 A high-resolution 1/4" interline transfer CCD with IR cut filter captures scenes in realistic color, while the zoom functions (25x optical + 10x electronic) provide excellent detail when and where it is needed.
Bright areas of a scene are shot with a high-speed shutter while dark areas receive normal exposure. Both sets of data are then combined to create a single, well-balanced image with light and dark areas perfectly exposed - another JVC innovation that makes a visible difference.
Even with light levels of 0.6 lx, the VN-C655U(B) can shoot high-quality color pictures thanks to Super LoLux™ technology. And at night the mechanical IR cut filter can be automatically retracted for infrared imaging (monochrome), making the camera sensitive enough to shoot in just 0.03 lx of ambient light.
 Highly sophisticated control of camera movements is enabled with such features as 360-degree endless rotation and Auto Flip (ensuring no blind spots), variable pan/tilt speeds, Auto Pan and Auto Patrol with 100 preset positions, Privacy Masking (to protect selected areas from intrusive monitoring), and Auto Tour (to replay manual camera operations).
The high-quality images are output as Motion-JPEG format with resolution up to 640x480 pixels and a maximum frame rate of 30fps. Any computer on the network can be used to monitor and store this video stream, and a future upgrade to add Internet capability to the VN-C655U(B) will allow remote access from virtually anywhere in the world.
Add an extra layer of security to your system with this convenient function. The Motion Detection function automatically indicates if any movement occurs in a specified area of the screen. You can specify the detection area and select the sensitivity level. The minimum area size is 8 x 8 pixels.
The bit rate (32kbps to 8Mbps) can be set by turning the Distribution Control setting on. This allows the camera to maintain the preset frame rate (max. 30fps*) and file size by automatically changing the compression level according to the bit rate.

The network camera shall have a built-in Web server that features an FTP server capability for storage of user-designed Web pages. The network camera shall feature NAT/IP Masquerade so that multiple VN-C655Us can be connected to a NAT/IP Masquerade compatible router and share a single IP address. The network camera shall feature an true day & night function removing the IR cut filter automatically (IR ON/OFF) together with AGC increased sensitivity in low light conditions. The network camera shall deliver a usable high quality picture at a scene illumination of 0.6 lx f1.6 (color mode) and 0.06 lx f1.6 (B&W mode).The network camera shall feature an Extended Dynamic Range(ExDr) mode that automatically adjusts dynamic range up to 400 x and uses JVC dual shutter technology for backlight applications. The network camera shall deliver high picture quality analog output for recording to an analog VCR or DVR for back up recording application. The network camera shall feature Automatic White Balance for accurate color reproduction or manual adjustment for flexible operation in a wide range of environments. The network camera shall have user friendly menu set up and adjustment of Auto iris level, ExDr, Back-light compression color level, AGC level, camera ID, time and date, adjustable bit rate from 32kbps to 8Mbps, and full function by provided controller and viewing software or through a Web browser. The network camera shall incorporate a built in 25X option zoom lens with a focal length of 3.8mm to 95mm and 10X digital zoom. The pan& tilt shall allow 360°endless panning and 180°tilting angle (thru auto flip) angle coverage. The pan and tilt mechanism shall be a high-speed movement allowing maximum of 300°per second (panning speed) and 180°per second(tilting speed The network camera shall feature 100 preset positions allow individual setting of pan, tilt & zoom that shall be programmable via provided controller software and thru a Web browser. The 100 preset positions can be used in three Auto Patrol mode programs. The pan, tilt, and zoom lens and camera shall a feature privacy masking function that may be able to protect privacy thru 4masks on same image and total 8masks. The network camera shall incorporate a UDP/IP, TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP, ICMP, ARP, NTP, and DHCP, protocols for various applications. The VN-C655U is fully compatible with the VN-C11U, VN-C30U, VN-C205U, VN-C625U cameras, VN-S400U software and the VR-N100U which can be easily mixed in a system. The provided controller and viewing software shall feature a record, playback, and snapshot functions to allow for a
PC based surveillance system. The maximum length of control data cable(CAT5)shall be 328 feet allowing point to point connection and extension can be made thru a switching Hub. The power source shall be DC18V 1.4A (camera input) and includes an AC24V to DC18V converter. The network camera's dimensions shall not exceed 6 inches (diameter) x 7-1/2 inches(height).
