TOP

Q16.

How much hard disk space is required for recording?
A.
Format Resolution Compression rate Frame rate Recording time Required capacity
JPEG 320 x 240 Mid 1f/s 7days 9.1GB
MPEG 320 x 240 - 30f/s 7days 38.7GB

Formula
(File size) x (Frame rate) x (Recording time)=Required disk space
example:
15 (KB) x 1(f/s) x 3600 (sec.) x 24 (hrs.) x 7 (days) = Approx. 9.1(GB)
64 (KB) x 3600 (sec.) x 24 (hrs.) x 7 (days) = Approx. 38.7 (GB)

TOP

Q17.

How much hard disk space is required for software installation?
A. It is required 10MB or more.

TOP

Q18.

Can I use VNETWORKS with Mac?
A. Yes. The camera built-in web server (VN-C2WU/C10U/C30U) can be controlled using a standard Web browser.

TOP

Q19.

How can I paste the Camera live image onto a web page?
A. Just link the URL of the VN-C2WU (or VN-C30U ver.2.0 or higher, VN-C10U) image file to the desired web page as an image file.
For example, when showing motion images, set the code as follows;

For Internet Explorer: <applet code="mjpeg.class" width="640" height="480" codebase="http://Camera'IP address/">

For Netscape Navigator: <img src="http://Camera's IP address/push.jpg" width="320" height="240">

TOP

Q20.

What is the frame rate with use of 56.6kbps modem?
A. 1 picture (320 x 240 pixel) at approximately. 4 seconds.

TOP

Q21.

What is the file format?
A. VN-C1U/C2U/C2WU : JPEG
VN-C30U : JPEG/MPEG1
VN-C10U : JPEG/MPEG4

TOP

Q22.

What is JPEG compression rate?
A. Variable 33:1 to 11:1

TOP

Q23.

What is JPEG file size?
A. The file size depends on the actual content of the image. This data is based on this sample image.

Image Size Compression Rate
High Mid Low
640x480 20KB 40KB 60KB
320x240 10KB 14KB 20KB
160x120 4KB 6KB 8KB

TOP

Q24.

What is MPEG file size? (VN-C10U/C30U only)
A. Since transmission of MPEG images is based on bit rate (30 f/s fixed), image size is calculated by the following formula.
e.g. When transmission rate is 500 KB/s;
(512KB/s ÷ 8)byte ÷ 30 (f/s) = 2KB

TOP

Q25.

Can I save the visual data?
A. Yes. The Viewer/Controller software can save Motion JPEG to a hard disk. (VN-C1U/C2U/C10U/C30U)
Also it can take JPEG snapshots and store them onto a hard disk. (VN-C1U/C2U)
e.g.: With 320 x 240 pixel images using high compression and a frame rate of 3 fps, an 80GByte hard disk can continue to store images for approx. 30 days.

TOP

Q26.

How many V.NETWORKS units can be connected to one network?
A. There is no limit to the number of PCs that can be connected for viewing purposes. Limitations depend on the conditions of the specific network - e.g. traffic conditions, the number of IP addresses available for static use, or security purposes, etc.

TOP

Q27.

How many users can simultaneously view a single V.NETWORKS live image?
A. The number of users who can simultaneously access a single network camera or Internet camera is about 10. However, when multiple users are accessing at the same time, the frame rate may be reduced due to network bandwidth limitation.

TOP

Q28.

Can I view the image from a VN-C2WU/C10U/C30U installed inside the firewall through the Internet?
A. Yes, it is possible depending on the port setting of the firewall. Consult your network administrator for settings. The port setting is 80, the same as web server.

TOP

Q29.

Can I restrict user access?
A. Password-based access control is available for VN-C1U/C2U/C30U. The VN-C2WU/C10U/C30U (web server) offers three different levels for access control: (1) Administrator level, (2) Operator level, and (3) User level. When the image from the VN-C2WU/C10U/C30U is pasted on the web, viewing and controlling of the image are possible depending on access authority of both website and VN-C2WU/C10U/C30U.

TOP

Q30.

Does V.NETWORKS support DHCP?
A. No. A Static IP address is required.

TOP

Q31.

How is priority determined for camera control when multiple users access the VN-C2WU/C10U/C30U on the Internet?
A. There is no priority restriction. If multiple accesses are made, the last access will take priority. You can also control camera access by password setting.

TOP

Q32.

How do I upgrade my software?
A. Updated V.NETWORKS viewer software can be downloaded from this site. (Download)

TOP

Q33.

Can I develop customized viewer software for V.NETWORKS?
A. Yes. We can supply an API specification and OCX. Please contact nearest JVC subsidiary company. Refer to CONTACT page.

TOP

Q34.

Is camera image influenced by the performance of network or PC?
A. There is no change in image quality. However, frame rate depends on the traffic of network, performance of the PC, or the number of PCs connected.
